Sizing in Coins and Counting Funding

Because a bitcoin lot is one coin, the profit math is direct: the dollar move in price times the number of coins. A 1,000 dollar move on 0.1 BTC is 100. Most brokers accept fractional lots, so you can size precisely instead of being forced up to a whole coin, and the calculator accepts any fractional size you enter.

On leveraged crypto CFDs, watch the funding or swap charge on positions held overnight, since crypto financing rates can be higher than forex. Enter your total funding and fees in the costs panel so the net reflects what you actually keep. And remember that Bitcoin trades 24/7, so a position can move a long way while other markets are closed.

quiz Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate Bitcoin trade profit?expand_more
Multiply the dollar move in price by the number of coins in your position, then apply the direction. A 0.1 BTC long from 63,000 to 64,000 is a 1,000 move, so 1,000 x 0.1 = 100. A short profits when Bitcoin falls. Subtract funding and fees for the net.
What is 1 lot of BTCUSD worth?expand_more
For most brokers, 1 lot of BTCUSD is 1 bitcoin, so a $1 move in price is $1 per lot and a $1,000 move is $1,000. Fractional lots are usually allowed, so 0.1 lot is 0.1 BTC, where a $1,000 move is worth $100.
Does Bitcoin funding affect my profit?expand_more
On leveraged CFDs, yes. Positions held past the daily rollover are charged funding or swap, and crypto rates can be higher than forex. Enter your total funding and fees in the costs panel so the net profit reflects the financing you actually paid.
